Neighborhood Paintings: Summertime – Day 12

Sideyard Gate, Jun. 17, 2017

I was a weather watcher today. Every time I got my paints to go outside, it would cloud over and start spitting rain. Then I would come in and the sun would come out. I finally decided to do something else for a bit until the sky cleared up enough to go out and get a painting done.

And here is the spring painting of this view. I see I was sitting much further back this time and at a slightly different angle, though it’s interesting to see that I completely edited out the shrub to the left of the gate last time. And looking at the two paintings, I think the flowerbed is actually bigger than I painted it today, but not quite as far out as I painted it last time. Also the inserts on the gate are more in betwwen the two sizes. Very different colour treatment too. I find it interesting to see such different paintings of the same view.
