Neighborhood Paintings – Day 11

The Secret Path, Apr. 1, 2017, watercolour on paper, 11 x 14

This is the shortcut at the top of our crescent. It cuts across the back alley and comes out at the top of the hill partway to my daughter’s school and some shopping, so we end up taking it all the time. When Poppy was little we started calling it the “secret path” and it was the landmark that meant we were almost home. The walk from her school used to feel very long and I was always cheering her on with,  ‘We’re almost to the secret path!’ She is 9 now and we still call it the secret path.
