Neighborhood Paintings – Day 10

Front Door, Mar. 31, 2018, watercolour on paper, 11 x 14

Another work day today. I got home pretty late and I wasn’t sure if I was going to get a painting done. I was also a bit stressed because I was losing the light. My husband suggested I just paint the view out the front door. So that’s what I did. It was dusk and I painted until I could no longer see my paper–by the end it was just about outlining all the windows on the screen door since the light had changed so much. I was mixing blues and greens and greys that all looked like exactly the same colour on my palette.

I think this would be a view that would benefit from painting it over multiple days, at the same time everyday, to get all the nuanced shadows. Maybe I will try that after the 30 days are done.
