Neighborhood Paintings – Day 8

Patio Flowerbed, Mar. 29, 2017, watercolour on paper, 11 x 14

Today I painted one of the front yard flowerbeds, by my patio area. Although I am not very happy with this painting–mostly because of the railing by the steps. I rushed it and painted the top rail too low, and then I tried to lighten and erase it and repaint it, but it did not work out.

I wanted to paint this flowerbed mostly because of the giant oregano plant in the foreground. It was huge, and purple, and beautiful almost all of last summer with loads of bees visiting it. In about a month or so, after the new growth starts, I will be cutting it back. I hope it gets this big again this summer.
